Storage Live Pupae
- When kept at room temperature, the pupae should start emerging within 4-5 days from despatch. A little condensation might appear on the inside of the tub during this period. This is common and is not a problem. However, if you would like to keep the pupae for longer, simply refrigerate the tub at about 6°c. The maximum period for refrigeration is 2 weeks, after this period the hatching rate decreases.
- Fly pupae can be kept in the fridge for two weeks or in the freezer for up to 6 months. Just remember to defrost the pupae before feeding.
- Since they don't move, some animals may take a little while to become interested in the pupae. Mix your pupae with live mealworms. The mealworm movement will create the illusion that the pupae are alive which will help entice even the fussiest feeder to try this delectable product.
Frozen pupae are available in 50g, 100g & 500g tubs & 1kg bulk. Live pupae are available in 25g & 500g tubs & 1kg bulk
